Access to the fashion industry

This course provides a structured introduction to fashion for entrepreneurs who are interested in the field but seek clearer understanding before committing to industry participation.

Rather than focusing on trends or technical skills, this course examines fashion as a system of education, labour, and value production.

You will be introduced to how fashion is taught within higher education, how the fashion industry operates in practice, and how different disciplines within fashion think and work.

The course facilitates informed decision-making and promotes critical engagement with fashion beyond surface-level representation. It is led by fashion designer and business owner Yvonne Lin.

Yvonne Lin is a Chinese Canadian designer based in London, she studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art. Before establishing her own label, her professional journey has been enriched by working with renowned luxury houses.

There she developed a deep understanding of cutting, construction, and material integrity. As the founder and creative director of YIBRI, she brings together her global background, technical training, and poetic sensibility to create clothing that feels grounded, thoughtful, and attuned to the rhythms of modern life.

Eligibility requirements

You will need to be eligible to study in the UK. Upon enrolment, you will be asked to upload residency and income documents for college funding purposes.

This course is for 19+ adults only who are GLA-resident.
