The Centre of FinTech is a research and practice-based centre located at the Royal Docks School of Business and Law, in collaboration with the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering. The vision of the Centre is 'to become the global centre for the creation and communication of practice-led knowledge that enables FinTech to be more inclusive, robust and sustainable'.
The idea for this free seminar event, in conjunction with Stratford Original BID, is to introduce local businesses to fintech and create an awareness of the opportunities in fintech as a tool to enhance business ideas. This can then create opportunities to delve in deeper, for those who see a real opportunity here, and may want to explore deeper by enrolling on one of our short courses, or potential research projects to help their business develop.
There will be opportunities for networking during the event, and light refreshments will be served.
The purpose of this event is:
- Introduction to UEL
- Creating awareness of fintech and opportunities for SMEs and other businesses
- Introducing opportunities available at UEL for learning more about fintech and getting a certificate of participation e.g. short courses
- Introduction to potential funding opportunities for projects that have gone passed the initial start-up phase e.g. through our Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
- Opportunities existing with UEL to support local small businesses
- Real-life experience and showcase of what success looks like in fintech from lived experience
