Providing everything you need to know about starting a business including financial management, marketing, creating a business plan, keeping business records and how to register as a business.
You have access to an online learning platform where you can find a huge number of resources to help you complete coursework.
You attend a weekly webinar with other like-minded parents, and there's also be some group challenges.
You gain the knowledge and confidence you need to become self-employed and launch your business.
What we cover
- Understanding different business ownership structures, aims and objectives.
- A step-by-step guide to starting and building your business including financial requirements like profit and loss.
- Your values and your personal or business brand.
- Using marketing to gain customers and digital promotion.
- How to use social media to engage with your target market.
- How to price your product or service and make a profit.
- Business policies and procedures to stay organised.
- Understanding cash flow, profit and loss.
- Managing a business around your family and a sprinkling of confidence techniques to be your own boss.
- Mastering your elevator pitch.
Delivered online over eight weeks during term-time, you take part in a 1.5 hour weekly webinar.
Starting at 10am on a set regular day of the week, but never on a Friday. Your specific day is confirmed when you sign up.
With 15–20 hours of self-guided study per week you complete the course with regained confidence, start to gain your first customers, and achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Business.
Eligibility requirements
Need to live within a London Borough and either unemployed or earning below London Living Wage.
