Kickstart your business is a free, two-day programme for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs, delivered in partnership with public libraries across London.
Funded by J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and run by the British Library’s Business & IP Centre (BIPC) in collaboration with Hustle & Heels, the programme equips participants with the tools, knowledge and confidence to turn their ideas into viable businesses. With a strong focus on inclusion, it supports people from all backgrounds to build skills, boost resilience and connect with supportive networks.
Each quarter, Kickstart is hosted at BIPC Local libraries in boroughs including Waltham Forest, Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley, Wandsworth and Enfield, with more locations joining through 2025.
The two-day workshop includes:
- Day 1: Business research and information
Run by the British Library’s reference specialists, this session explores how to protect your idea with intellectual property (IP) and use market research tools to map out your business, identify audiences and develop a strong value proposition.
- Day 2: Get started
A practical, high-energy session delivered by Hustle & Heels to help you define your audience, test your idea and avoid common pitfalls. You’ll walk away with a one-page business plan and a clearer sense of next steps.
Why Kickstart?
Whether you’re launching from scratch or scaling up a side hustle, Kickstart helps you take the next step with clarity and confidence. Since launching in 2023, it’s supported hundreds of Londoners and forms part of a wider mission to democratise entrepreneurship through the BIPC network.
