This course is designed for entrepreneurs looking to upskill, offering an excellent introduction to both business and IT.

Over one year of full-time study, students will complete two qualifications on this programme, a Level 1 Award in Workskills as well as an OCNLR Level 1 Certificate in Business.

The curriculum covers a range of business units, complemented by basic IT skills, ensuring students gain well-rounded knowledge.

Additionally, the course includes functional skills in English and maths, work experience placements, tutorials and enrichment activities, providing a comprehensive learning experience.

Course content

The course consists of 10 different units, which include:

  • Team work skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Professional behaviour in the workplace.
  • Understanding business communications.
  • Business finance.
  • Understanding business and enterprise.
  • Generating and presenting a business idea.
  • Collaborative work using digital technology.
  • Creating and publishing webpages.
  • Internet safety.
  • Contributing to running an event.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants should have three GCSEs at any grade, including maths and English, or a previous vocational qualification.

However, if you don't have formal qualifications, don't worry – our team will assess your abilities to ensure you're on the right path.

A school report or a reference from an employer is also required to confirm that we can offer the necessary support.

Please note that this course has start dates through the academic year.
