Media Hair Styling - Introduction (Creative Skills Academy)

This six-day media hair styling course is designed for individuals aspiring to work in the dynamic world of media, including television, film and photography. The course offers hands-on training, giving participants the skills and knowledge required to excel in this creative field.

About the tutor

Alison Rainey has been a film and TV hair and makeup artist for over 35 years. She is also an experienced lecturer in further education and higher education at various colleges across the South-east teaching theatrical hair and makeup artistry.

What will I study?

• Day 1: theory, health & safety, blow drying and straightening.
• Day 2: simple hair up.
• Day 3: using tongs and straighteners to create curl and waves.
• Day 4: applying heated rollers, hot sticks and dressing out.
• Day 5: advanced hair up styles.
• Day 6: professional practice.

What you need

• No prior experience necessary.
• Students will be working on hairdressing heads for the duration. The classes may be mixed in gender.
• Students must have a good level of spoken and written English.
• Commit to 100% attendance to all classes to receive certification.
• All materials and supplies are provided by the tutor.

Eligibility requirements

You will need to be eligible to study in the UK. Upon enrolment, you will be asked to upload residency and income documents for college funding purposes.
