Remote working for self-employment: level 1 certificate

This Level 1 course in remote working course is designed for people who wish to be (or who already are) self-employed. The course is delivered by Visionnaires' Entrepreneurial Coaches who have their own businesses.

This course develops the initial entrepreneurial skills you need to understand the basics of being self-employed, whether as a sole trader, with a side hustle or setting up your own business.

Key information

This course runs over six days and can be completed either across two weeks (three days per week) or three weeks (two days per week). It is delivered in person at Capital City College Regent's Park centre, with sessions taking place from 10am to 4pm.

This course has a cost of £330 but may be free if you meet certain conditions.

This qualification is awarded by the SFEDI Awards, the awarding organisation for enterprise and business support in the UK. Upon achievement and registration, you also receive a one-year free membership to IOEE (Institute for Entrepreneurs and Enterprise), expert advice from people with business experience and other free training courses to support business startups.

Eligibility requirements

This course is open to anyone aged 19 or over. It is free for individuals who are currently unemployed or earning under £28,860 a year.

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents, such as a passport, an EU citizen ID card, a UK Birth Certificate, or a Biometric Card.

If you have been in the UK for less than three years or have entered the UK with a visa, you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK - your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant Home Office documents to support your residency should all be provided.

If you're an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, we will need to see evidence of 'Pre-Settled' or 'Settled status' documents. Also, for funding purposes, we would need to see evidence of payslips (within the last three months) if working. If you are receiving benefits (e.g. JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits, etc. please provide evidence of this.
