Social media marketing for beginners

This course helps small business owners, artists, creators and charities promote themselves online, covering social, picture, video and professional platforms.

The first half will look at the different platforms and the second will involve creating content for your chosen platform that will appeal to your audience and use your skills. You will learn how to plan a content calendar, schedule to your chosen platform/s and use analytics to monitor success.

You do not need any prior experience as this is suitable for complete beginners. You will improve skills for work and digital skills.

Eligibility requirements

This is a government funded, free to access course, if you meet the eligibility criteria below:

• If you are in receipt of one of the following: Universal Credit (UC), Jobseekers Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Pension guarantee credit, Council tax reduction, Working tax credits, Housing benefit, Income support.
• In employment or self-employed: if you are working and on a low income, you may be entitled to free courses.
• Asylum seekers are entitled to free courses with WEA.

WEA offers additional support funds for people on low incomes, and this is on a case-by-case basis. The best way to determine eligibility is to call them at 0300 303 3464 (option one) and give them all the details, then they will be able to tell your client if the course is free.
