In an increasingly digital age, learning how to code is a great skill for a career in the IT and digital sector. With the world evolving digitally, coding skills are more important than ever before.
If you want to gain an introduction to coding, this qualification is suited for beginners looking to gain knowledge of coding languages and the software development cycle.
This course supports progression into further study of coding. You will learn best practice in coding, methods of testing and DevOps processes.
This course has six units:
- The principles of coding.
- Terminology used in coding.
- Coding design principles.
- The processes and practice of coding.
- The importance of communication and project management in coding.
This course is accredited by NCFE CACHE, a leading awarding organisation, with more than 170 years of experience. NCFE is recognised by the UK Department for Education and regulated by Ofqual.

Eligibility requirements
You must meet the following criteria to be able to study for free:
- You must currently live in England.
- You must be over the age of 19.
- Earn less than £27,000 gross per year.
College staff will support you at the enrolment stage to confirm your eligibility for the course.
